She couldn't help but laugh a little. She jumped off the sturdy tree branch and landed on another one before landing back down on the ground with ease.

Tsuande chuckled at Shikamaru's little blunder "Okay, you two are competent with that exercise. That is very pleasing to see. However, we are going to try something a little harder this time. Its known as the Walking On Water Technique. I trust that you both have heard of it, but I am not sure if you have actually gone over it with your Senseis" Tsuande crossed her arms and stared expectantly at the two.

"Actually I have..... although it wasn't intentional..... at least I can swim and walk a top water now.", says Shikamaru.

"W-Well, our team did go over it briefly...but I-I wasn't very good at it when I tried it the first t-time. But...I think I've i-improved a little bit." she admits with a sheepish blush.

Tsuande nodded and walked over to a nearby stream. She took a light step and walked on top of the water as easily as walking on land. Tsuande looked at the others and said, "Look what happens when I use too much chakra-" Tsuande purposely put extra chakra in her feet, causing the water to swish around, rocky and unstable. "However, look what happens when I put too little chakra in-" Tsuande reduced the amount of chakra and she began to sink. Tsuande moved back to shore "You two give a try" She said.

"If you're wondering why I was taught this lesson, it's because I fell in and couldn't swim so Asuma sensei had to save me. He then made sure I learned how to swim and walk on top of water. It was a one on one lesson for the water walking part.", says Shikamaru as he walks onto the water and manages to stay afloat with just a slight ripple coming from where he is standing.

She takes a deep breath before she closes her eyes and forces a little more chakra into her feet than before. She slowly walked towards the water before stepping on it, making small ripples with each, hesitant step she made. She wobbled a bit, but managed to stay afloat and not fall over while keeping a constant flow of chakra to her feet.

Tsuande chuckled at Shikamaru's story "I am very impressed with both of you. Your chakra control is very impressive. I am convinced that you are ready to learn medical ninjutsu now" Tsuande used her hand to beckon them to the shore "Okay, I am going to show you the handsigns for the Mystic Palms Technique. Watch carefully. The trick is to keep the right amount of chakra flowing while doing the handsigns" She showed them the handsigns slowly; Fox, Rabbit, Bear, Boar. "Try it" Tsuande offered.

Shikamaru walks back to the land. He is thinking while doing the handsigns. Alright it was, Fox, Rabbit, Bear, and what was the last one... oh yeah, boar. Of course as he was doing the handsigns as he was thinking this made him hesitate on the last handsign which led to the jutsu doing absolutely nothing.

She slowly made her way back onto land and watched Lady Tsunade's handsigns carefully. 'Fox, Rabbit, Bear...and Boar.' she repeated in her mind until it stuck in her mind. She closed her eyes to let a constant flow of chakra go through her arms to perform the jutsu. "Fox...Rabbit...Bear...Boar." she whispered to herself, making each handsign.

She opened her eyes a bit when she could feel a faint glow coming from her hands, it was very faint, but it was a light green chakra formed around them.

Tsuande stared at Hinata’s chakra, impressed that she was able to get the jutsu working so quickly. Although it was only a faint glow, it was highly good chakra control. Hinata will make a very accomplished medical ninja. She turned to Shikamaru, and smiled “Do not hesitate. Keep the chakra flowing, and you will feel it tingling when you have started to maintain the right amount. Once you achieve that tingling feeling, try the handsigns”

Shikamaru does as Tsunade says. He is surprised that it does not take long for him to acquire the tingling feeling in his hands, he then does the handsigns and he has a light green glow around his hands.

'Keep it flowing...' she thought, making sure she keeps the flow of chakra in her hands and arms constant. After about a minute of this, the green glow around her hands got a little brighter than before when she added a little more chakra.

"Very good, both of you! You have picked this up quite impressivly. I believe you are ready to try healing now" Tsuande pulled out a kunai and made a small incision in her palm. "Try healing it, Hinata" Tsuande offered, meaning to give Shikamaru a turn after Hinata.

Shikamaru watches while making it a point to keep a steady flow of chakra in his hands. He does as Hinata had done and his hands glow a little brighter as well.

Hinata nodded briefly before she put her hands over the incision Tsuande had made on her palm. She stared at it, making sure she focused on keeping a steady flow of chakra in her hands to keep the jutsu from deactivating. She watched as the incision slowly began to fade just a little bit as she slowly poured her chakra over Tsunade's palm.

Tsuande watched as the line faded to a pink scar. She whistled, clearly impressed, pulling her hand away to examine the mark. "Very impressive, Hinata, it thrills me to see that there is a medical nin out there that will one day surpass myself. Alright, Shikamaru, ready to give it a try?" She repeated the incision and offered her palm out to him.

((Tempted to make some comment about Tsunade being emo... lol))

Shikamaru nods and makes sure to keep a steady flow of chakra to his hands. He puts his hands over the incision and slowly infuses his chakra with her wound while still keeping his chakra steady. The incision begins to fade a little slower than what it did when Hinata did it.

She smiled faintly as she watched Shikamaru slowly heal Tsunade's palm. She felt a little more confident about this after getting so much praise from Tsunade that she actually had potential to become a medical-nin some day.

Tsuande again pulled away her palm to inspect the line. "Very good Shikmaru! You too, have the possiblity to surpass me. For now, this is all the training you need from me. You can now go off and practise this technique by yourselves, and one day you can come back for a harder techique to learn. Be proud, you achieved a lot in one day of training" Tsuande smiled at the two, proud of the two new medical ni that stood before her.

"Yes, thank you." says Shikamaru with a nod which was his version of a bow because it took less energy.
