Visiting the Sand ((Open))

Shikamaru is walking through the streets of the Sand Village. He had been sent there to deliver a message to a friend of his dad's and had succeeded. Now he was just trying to find a shop to get some water or tea or something. He was definately not used to the climate of the Sand.

Temari was walking through the streets with a slight bored expression. She fanned herself with her fan since it was feeling warmer than usual. She suddenly smirked when she spotted Shikamaru up ahead. 'He sticks out like a sore thumb out here...' she thinks, slowly making her way over to him.

Shikamaru noticed Temari. Not that the giant fan didn't help him any in spotting her. ((Lol)) Usually he would sigh or make some comment but he knew that she would know somewhere to get something to drink. Shikamaru holds his hand up for a brief second in a motionless wave and then he walks towards her. "Hi Temari."

"Hey, what brings you here? Not often we see Leaf Shinobi around these parts...especially in this heat." she said with a soft sigh, waving herself with her hand.

"I delivered a letter from dad to an old man friend of his. I wouldn't have taken the trip and would have made him get a messenger bird but I don't mind getting away from the house." Shikamaru wipes the sweat off from his forehead. "Tell me about it, the color of my hair really attracts the sunlight too. But speaking of the heat, do you know anywhere that I can get a drink?"

"Sure, there's a tea shop just up ahead, but I'll go with you...I could probably use a drink anyway. And before you ask, yes they serve more than just hot tea." she said, turning to him with a faint smirk.

"Thanks", says Shikamaru, "I'll pay." He waits for Temari to lead the way.

She nods in reply before she begins to walk ahead, expecting him to follow so she doesn't bother looking back to see if he does. (Lol, it's alright...)

Shikamaru follows her. "So how busy has it been around here? Back in the Leaf everyone is busy with missions but none of the missions are anything involving anything critical."

"Don't you mean troublesome?" she chuckled. "Anyway, it really depends. Especially in this kind of heat and sandstorms, there aren't as many missions because the weather takes its toll on our shinobi and can affect on how well the mission goes. So we normally try to send out shinobi when the weather isn't too bad." she explains.

"That makes sense." says Shikamaru nodding at what she said. "And no, I meant critical, as in the village isn't being attacked. Trust me, there are plenty of troublesome missions.", says Shikamaru chuckling, of course in his eyes most all missions were troublesome.

"Like what, considering what I've been doing as missions, I doubt it's as 'troublesome' as you make it sound..." she said.

"Like taking the week long round trip to and from Sunagakure.", says Shikamaru jokingly. "Seriously though, one of the missions was getting groceries for the Akimichi clan. THAT was troublesome."

She snorted. "You've got to be joking me, I had to do plenty of boring missions like that...wait till you reach jounin rank...then you can complain all you want about how troublesome your work load is. I think you've got potential to become one...if you'd stop complaining so much." she said with a slight grin tugging at her lips.

She lifts the flap over her head once they reach the tea shop and she sits at a empty table.

Shikamaru follows Temari and also sits down at the table. "No, you don't get it, aside from the huge amount of food you have to get, when I got the food back to them they attacked me because they thought I wanted some." Shikamaru waits for someone to come over to the table and ask them what they want.

She chuckled a little in reply. "Well, you can't expect every mission to be a walk in the park." She watched a waiter walk by their table and she orders herself a cup of water with some dango.

Shikamaru nods. After Temari orders he just orders a large glass of water. "The most troubling part of these missions is that it's splitting up teams for long periods of time."

"True, it can be troublesome, but you need to get some experience with that...otherwise you won't know what to do when you're suddenly all alone on a high ranked mission." she explains.

Shikamaru again nods, "Yeah, you're right. It just makes me feel insecure about the village.", says Shikamaru as he quiets his voice down a little. "There's way more ninja out on missions then there are in the village."

"I can understand that...you have a right to feel that way. You just need to worry about what you can do for your village and take initiative when necessary...especially in dire times of need."

"Yeah. Dire times, That's about the only time anyone trusts me to do anything." says Shikamaru chuckling and looking back at past events.

She thinks back to the time she had resuced him earlier from that Sound Ninja. She smirked and nodded in reply.

"They'll learn to trust you more once you gain more experience...you might make mistakes during missions, but as long as you can learn from them and use them to your advantage, you'll do fine...well more than fine." she said with a soft chuckle.

Shikamaru smiles appreciating that comment. "What a drag, I can't even return that compliment because you're already at the point where people trust you and you do great in battle."

"Coming from you, that means quite a lot, but you outta give yourself more credit Shikamaru. I'll admit you surprised me back when we first fought, I didn't expect you to catch me off guard like that." she said with a small smile.

The waiter soon returned with their drinks and her food.

Shikamaru thanks the waiter and then looks back to Temari. Again Shikamaru greatly appreciated the complement. "As a Nara you have to catch your opponent off guard or you won't be able to do anything but stall. At least until you learn some of the more advanced jutsu."
